Who We Are

At Howbury School, we believe every child deserves the best start in life. We are a family-oriented school that provides a safe, caring, and stimulating environment for children aged 3 months to 18 years. Here, every child is encouraged to grow, learn, and thrive in a community that values both academic excellence and personal development.

Our journey began in Maryland, Lagos, in January 2011 as a crèche. By September of the same year, we introduced our nursery section. With growing success, we opened our primary school in 2013 and our secondary school in 2020, offering a seamless transition for students across all stages of learning. Most recently, in October 2024, we expanded with the launch of our Festac campus, broadening access to our unique approach to education.

Our Curriculum and the Cambridge Programme

At Howbury School, we offer a carefully balanced curriculum that blends the Nigerian National Curriculum, and the Cambridge Primary and Secondary Curricula. This blend ensures that our students receive a world-class education that prepares them for success both locally and globally.

In primary school, the Cambridge Primary Curriculum strengthens core skills in literacy, numeracy, and science, ensuring students are well-prepared for their secondary education. In secondary school, we follow the Cambridge Secondary Curriculum, which develops critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a deeper understanding of subjects.

Students in Year 9 take the Cambridge Checkpoint Exams, which are marked by Cambridge examiners and provide an internationally recognized benchmark for performance. By Year 11, students sit for the globally acclaimed IGCSE exams, which open doors to higher education worldwide. Additionally, students can choose to take the WAEC exams in Year 12 or transition into an A-Level program, providing flexible pathways for their future goals.

Personalized Learning Approach

We understand that every child is unique. Our personalized learning approach ensures that each student receives the attention, support, and encouragement they need to excel. With small class sizes, individualized learning plans, and tailored instruction, we adapt to the strengths, needs, and interests of every learner.

Regular assessments and feedback help us monitor each child’s progress, set achievable goals, and build a strong academic foundation. But our approach goes beyond academics. We nurture social, emotional, and physical growth through extracurricular activities, sports, and leadership opportunities, helping students grow into well-rounded individuals.

Our teachers build meaningful relationships with their students, fostering a sense of trust and motivation. By incorporating technology into our lessons, we inspire children to take ownership of their learning journey and develop the skills they need to thrive in an ever-changing world.

Our Commitment to Excellence

At Howbury School, our mission is to nurture critical thinkers and future leaders who will shape the world. We aim to inspire every student to dream big, work hard, and make a meaningful difference. Through our broad curriculum, supportive community, and personalized approach, we strive to bring out the best in every child.

We take pride in being more than just a school—we’re a family where children feel valued, supported, and inspired to achieve their potential. We’re not just shaping minds; we’re building the future, one child at a time.

We invite you to join the Howbury family and experience a school where every child matters, every dream is nurtured, and every future shines bright.

Charity and Community Outreach

At Howbury School, giving back to the community is a cornerstone of our values. We are committed to fostering compassion, social responsibility, and a sense of service in our students while making a meaningful impact on society.

Charity Days
Each school session, we organize “Mufti Days,” where students come to school in casual attire and donate to designated charities. Over the years, we have proudly supported organizations such as the Sickle Cell Foundation of Nigeria, iLift Foundation, and the Red Cross Society. These initiatives not only teach our students the importance of giving back but also foster empathy and a sense of responsibility toward others. At the end of the school year, our students also pack boxes with essential items for disadvantaged children, further reinforcing the value of community service.

Supporting the Military Community
Howbury School is proud to support the families of our nation’s armed forces. We offer a dedicated military bursary to children of serving military personnel, ensuring they receive access to quality education as a token of our gratitude for their service.

Book Donation Drive
Every year, Howbury School and the Howbury School Library donate over 1,000 books to schools, churches, and reading clubs in the community. This initiative promotes an active reading culture and helps make quality books accessible to underserved areas. Additionally, the school library provides a Reading Clinic to support children with reading difficulties, ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive academically.

Admissions Process

At Howbury School, children seeking admission into Upper Nursery, Primary, or Secondary classes are required to take a placement test. These tests are scheduled periodically and help us assess the child’s readiness for the desired class. Upon successfully passing the placement test, parents are invited for an interview before a spot is offered.

We encourage prospective parents to schedule a school tour and meet with our Admissions Manager at a convenient time before the placement test. Additionally, the school hosts several Open House events throughout the year, providing an opportunity to meet our staff, interact with current parents, and gain deeper insights into our ethos, values, and teaching approach.
